I had the pleasure of meeting Don Budy several months ago at an art show in Castle Rock, Colorado. We discussed my paintings, the techniques I’d used to capture a specific look or feel.
He seemed to understand everything.
It wasn’t until much later that I realized he’d been an art teacher all his life...and a talented sculptor as well.
His work is absolutely amazing! He nails it every time.
He is expressive, the angles of the figures, the implied movement, and the presence of his work is truly wonderful to see.
Don sent me a few of his #abstract #marble #sculptures. I love them for a different reason. They feel good. They are smooth and refined with sweeping curves like carved by water over time.
I hope to go see where he works. I love artist studios.
A little about Don from a site he is on:
Welcome to my FineArtAmerica web site. I hope you enjoy looking at my work and that you might see something that stirs you emotionally, something that elicits a good thought, a good memory or maybe just makes you stop and enjoy it for a moment or two. If you don't see something in these pages that is just what you need then I would love the opportunity to speak with you and create something just for you. I do table top size pieces to full life size. I work for individuals, corporations, municipalities or any one who enjoys sculptural art. As you will see, I do realistic people and animals as well as stylized and abstract pieces. I do mostly bronze but also love working in marble.
I was a High School Art Teacher for thirty five years and loved every minute of it. Of all of the media that I taught and enjoyed I realized that I found my greatest satisfaction and joy in doing sculpture. I have done eleven life size public art commission pieces with a total of eighteen realistic figures. You will see most of these on this web site. Thank you again for spending some time with me and my work. I appreciate it. Don Budy
