No. is a series I started early on at KCAI, about 25 years ago. I had the opportunity to work with Lester Goldman, a painting professor at KCAI. He liked my work but wanted me to let go a little more. Lester was an energetic artist and a pleasure to paint with. He asked if I wanted to get one of the studios for a 2 day painting session. It was amazing and much stuck with me all those years later, to today. Warren Rosser, head of the painting department at KCAI was also a huge influence, not only style but approach and passion. Both of these instructors helped with me early on and I thank them.

RAW is a series that I wanted to explore layers, one of them pure or raw canvas. I wanted to play with layers with a reveal, even to me at the end. The next challenge was watercolor. Never really used watercolor and certainly not on a stretched canvas. Experimenting got me to what you see below. Thoroughly enjoy the process, the mess and in the end a pure element that made it through it all.

Pareidolia Series is a type of apophenia, which is a more generalized term for seeing patterns in random data. Some common examples are seeing a likeness of Jesus in the clouds or an image of a man on the surface of the moon.

I follow the lines or shapes that are already there and add a little something here and there. I see shapes or forms and just call them out. See what you see. I'm using mostly recycled materials and frames to keep my cost down and cost of the art.

Ghosts Series is series inspired by walking around in Denver. From pine needles (my favorite) to cloud and cracks in the sidewalk, I take home ideas and work. Below are some of the nature inspired works for this year. I like the idea of a ghosted image left behind.
